Far More

When should the people of God say, ‘enough’? “Enough God, we have seen enough. we have seen enough of Your power; we have seen enough of Your grace and mercy, enough of your glory. We have seen enough.” Should we ever say that we have seen enough of Him?

At the Austin Stone, we have seen God do a lot. We have seen Him raise up a church from 15 people meeting in an apartment in the middle of Austin to over 7,000 people meeting in 5 campuses across Austin. In the past few months alone, we have seen God baptize 191 people and call 4,000 volunteers to serve Austin through several partner organizations via hundreds of service opportunities. We have seen Him send 23 church planters from our community to cities across the U.S. and 100 goers from our 100 People Network to preach the Gospel to unreached people groups around the world, people who have literally never heard the name Jesus. The Austin Stone has seen God move in some mighty ways that only He can be responsible for or take credit for. So, should God’s people at the Austin Stone say ‘enough’? Should any of Gods people say 'enough'?

There is a verse that the Stone, my home church, has been meditating on for the past month or so, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21) If God can do “far more abundantly than we ask or think…” should we, as His people, ever say, ‘enough’?

I personally haven't seen enough. God, I haven't seen enough liberation, I haven't seen enough redemption or salvation. Psalm 42:1-2 says, “As the deer pants for streams of water, my soul pants for You…” 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, “ Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually.” In light of these verses, we cannot have enough of God. the psalmist of Psalm 42 is saying that our souls thirst for the Lord and in 1 Chronicles, Ezra says that we should always be seeking His face. We cannot have enough and we should never be satisfied. Can you imagine if after the 5,000 men at Pentecost were saved, the early church had said, “Well, that was cool. Good game guys.” Can you imagine if the women who found the empty tomb of Christ had just said, “Oh, He was for-real. What are we doing for lunch?” I have not had enough, I want more. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for Him.

There is so much more that God can do in the city of Austin. I am asking God to do far more and to push back darkness. I am asking him to save more people; to call more to be baptized, and be on mission for His glory. I can’t wait to see the Lord do far more than our prayers could ever ask for, or our minds imagine.

Pray and ask for far more. He is capable.
